Clip Ink, by June8LLC. Last updated 23 October 2026.
Clip Ink collects nothing about you. It has no analytics, no accounts and no
advertising, and we run no server, so there is nowhere for your data to go. Your note leaves
your phone only when you tap the send button, and only to the place you chose.
What we collect
Nothing. None of Clip Ink’s own code sends anything anywhere. A few parts of Android and
Google that the app relies on do use the network, and you should know which:
Handwriting recognition uses Google’s ML Kit. The first time you open
the app it downloads the handwriting model from Google. After that, your writing is
recognised entirely on the phone: what you write is never sent anywhere. Like all
ML Kit features, it may send Google anonymous statistics about how the library itself
performs (not your writing), and check for model updates.
Dictation uses your phone’s own speech recogniser (on most phones,
Google’s), only while you are dictating. That recogniser may process your voice
online, under its maker’s privacy policy, not ours. Clip Ink receives only the words.
Spell checking asks your phone’s spell checker (your keyboard’s,
such as Gboard or Samsung Keyboard) about the words in your note. That happens on the
phone. Clip Ink also checks against a word list built into the app.
Where your note goes
It stays on your phone, in the app’s private storage, which no other
app can read. It is not included in Android’s cloud backup. Uninstalling the app
deletes it.
It leaves only when you tap the send button: copied to the clipboard and,
if you chose one, handed to that app (your messaging app, email, or another app you added).
From there it is that app’s to handle.
The clipboard is read only when you ask: when you hold an empty page to
start from the clipboard, or choose Paste.
Reporting a problem
Settings has a Report a problem button. It opens your own email app
with a message to us already written: the app’s version, your phone’s model and
Android version, the screen size, which spell checker is set, and a short log of recent
gestures (which gestures, not what you wrote). Your note is never in it.
Clip Ink sends nothing itself: you read the message, change or delete any of it, and decide
whether to send it.
Permissions, and why each one exists
Internet. To download the handwriting model (see above).
Microphone. Only for dictation, and only while you are dictating. Asked
for the first time you dictate; you can refuse and use everything else.
Vibration. The small taps you feel as the cursor moves or a gesture is
recognised.
Seeing which apps accept text. So that you can pick an app to send your
note to. The list is only shown to you; it never leaves the phone.
Children
Clip Ink is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.
